People don’t generally appreciate it when you say, “I told you so,” but perhaps this is an exception.

Remember when Have You Heard? said Dave & Buster’s likely will open at Greenwich Place?

No one is talking officially yet, but sources close to the project now confirm it.

Dave & Buster’s will open next summer in 30,000 square feet next to Cavender’s, in the growing development at K-96 and Greenwich.

From the time Greenwich Place was announced several years ago, there’s been talk that it would land the Dallas-based entertainment venue.

In June, Have You Heard? reported that a deal was imminent. Then in August, the company submitted landscape plans to the city.

There are a few sizes of Dave & Buster’s venues. The largest is the chain’s 42,000-square-foot format. The smallest is a 17,000-square-foot format.

Fans of Dave & Buster’s worried that Wichita might end up with the smallest model, but that’s not the case.

All of the venues feature food, drinks, video arcade games and party rooms.

According to the company’s history on its website, the first Dave & Buster’s was in Dallas in “an empty 40,000 square-foot warehouse. Having been proclaimed certifiably crazy by many in the restaurant industry, Dave and Buster dove headlong into construction. With Dave’s name first because he won a coin toss, they opened the first Dave & Buster’s in December 1982.”

The Wichita Dave & Buster’s is slated to open in June or July next year.

Kechi-based Harman Huffman Construction Group is the contractor and is expected to break ground next week.
