A Short Stop convenience store isn't the only new building coming to 53rd North and Meridian.

Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy has purchased land at the southwest corner to build a future store.

"The new location we acquired will not be on the construction list for quite some time," spokeswoman Amanda Beuchaw said in an e-mail. "Probably at least a year and a half or more. We have other locations in Texas that we will be working on ahead of that one."

The Oklahoma company often buys land years in advance of when it plans to build.

For instance, it was about a year and half ago that Braum's made a deal at Fox Ridge Plaza on Maize Road south of Menards, and construction is just now getting ready to begin there.

Also, the chain made a deal in 2016 at 5730 E. Central where El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant once was, but there are still no plans to start construction there.

Check back for updates on all three sites.
