Ronn McMahon officially took over as the Greater Wichita YMCA’s new president and CEO this week, following the 25-year reign of former CEO Dennis Schoenebeck.

McMahon, as a former member of the Canadian Olympic men’s basketball team, comes to Wichita with 18 years of experience at the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Tacoma, Wash., where he led efforts to grow both participation and revenue by more than 300 percent, and helped make possible a four-fold increase in community support and free and assisted services.

“Ronn has a strong track record in creating vision and strategy to connect community needs with the Y mission,” YMCA board chairman Jim Korroch said at the time McMahon’s selection was announced in October. “He aligns the needs with those who can help meet the need, making him a perfect fit to lead us as we continue fulfilling our Vision 2020.”
