Salvation Army sets fundraising goal at $1.8 million

The Salvation Army’s fundraising goal for its 2013 Mission of Hope in the Wichita area is $1.8 million, the organization said in a news release.

The goal is identical to last year, when $1.711 million was raised, spokesman Brian Carroll said.

Nearly 50,000 people were helped by the Salvation Army over the past year, said Maj. Glen Caddy, the group’s local commander.

The Salvation Army’s red kettles will be available for donations through Dec. 24.

Anyone interested in volunteering to ring bells at the kettles or to help in meeting other needs is asked to call 316-263-2769 or go to missionofhope.salvationarny.us.
