Replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower, rose of Sharon in bloom at Botanica
How does tub removal affect property value?
More and more people are removing the bathtub to put in a large walk-in shower. If the house is put on the market, most potential buyers will appreciate a recently remodeled, spacious shower with all the bells and whistles versus a tub they may never take time to use.
But families with small children will likely prefer a house with a bathtub. If your area is a desirable location for families, the lack of a tub may not be a deal breaker, but be prepared for the house to take a bit longer to sell.
If the lack of a tub seems to be a sticking point, consult with your Realtor about providing an allowance for converting the shower back to a bathtub. At the end of the day, it’s your house and you should remodel it however you like.
