Since the Symphony Showhouse tour fell through this year, the Women’s Association of the Wichita Symphony will have a new event in the fall: a tour of the houses of five designers, along with a pre-party at Union Station.
“We just knew we had to do something since the last house fell through,” Lisa Vayda of the association said this week. A Symphony Showhouse tour – the biggest fundraiser for the association – was scheduled for College Hill first last fall and then this spring, but structural problems derailed those plans.
“Tour Designer Digs to Support Symphony Gigs” instead will take place Sept. 10 and 11. It will feature the houses of five designers who have taken part in previous showhouse tours, Vayda said.
“If we could get a (showhouse) house for 2017, that would be great. If not, we will try to do something like this in the off-years,” Vayda said.
The event will kick off with an “opening gig” at Union Station on Sept. 9. “I think there are a lot of people who can’t wait to see what they’re doing at the station,” Vayda said.
Details about the event will be released soon, she said.
