More than 30 tables decorated for a variety of holidays and occasions will pave the way for the holiday season next week at the Wichita Center for the Arts.

The 26th annual Holiday Tables will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Nov. 7 in the center’s galleries. The event will include a bake shop, a boutique selling holiday items from Dandurand and lunch for sale. A couple of evening events — a preview on Wednesday and girls’ night out on Thursday — will have a party atmosphere.

Nonprofit groups, businesses and individuals will decorate tables. Among the themes: Christmas Traditions, Dine Macabre, Vintage Sparkle, Mardi Gras in the Garden, Thankful for Families, La Fiesta, Aztec Christmas, Baci il Cuoco (Kiss the Cook), and Pretty in Pink.

The Designing Women volunteer group puts on the event as a fundraiser for the arts center, 9112 E. Central. Admission is $10; lunch, which will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is $12.

You can also see the tables during these evening events:

▪ A preview party from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday will feature food, drink and live music; the cost is $75. Reservations are due by 3 p.m. that day.

▪ Girls Night Out on Thursday, with the theme La Dolce Vita, also will include food, drinks and music; admission is $30 in advance or $35 at the door if there is room. Hours are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

For reservations to the evening events, call Randy Brown at 316-634-2787, ext. 211, or go to www.wcfta.com.

Janice Zerbe decorates for a hobby, and won best table at last year’s Holiday Tables for her display titled “Downton Christmas.” This year she’s back, planning a table themed “Holly-day Soiree” with her daughter, Sarah Purdum.

“I am staying with Christmas,” Zerbe says of her theme. “I think everybody likes to go and kind of get in the mood for the holidays. That’s what I’ve done when I’ve gone, tried to get inspired.”
