The Grapevine (Nov. 15)
Designer Q&A
Q: My hardwood floors are looking dull and showing scratches. Unfortunately refinishing is not in the budget for this year. Any suggestions on how to improve how they look until I have the money to refinish?
A: In the old days, they used to wax floors to fill in scratches and make them shine. If refinishing isn’t in the budget, try a floor polish or wax to make them gleam.

Storing garden stakes
Before storing wooden garden stakes, allow mud to dry and remove it with a stiff brush. Stakes should be bundled and stored in a dry space for the winter. Don’t leave stakes lying around the garden; ground moisture will cause them to rot, and they may attract termites.
