Honoring parents, remembering Taiwan

The main theme of our yard is to honor our parents. My parents were born in Taiwan, and the parents of my wife, Yun-Hwa, were born in China. The garden in the center of the backyard approximates the shape of Taiwan so that our children will know and remember their heritage. To the left are orange daylily flowers, and heavenly trees (Chinese cedar, Toona sinensis) are to the right of the daylilies. Traditionally in Chinese culture, the daylily (Hemerocallis fulva) is a symbol of mother, and the heavenly tree is a symbol of father.
