Pond, garden tours this weekend in Wichita
Wichita-area gardens and ponds will be open to the public this weekend during the annual Kansas Pond Society Water Garden Tour and the North Riverside Garden Stroll.
The Water Garden Tour is a self-guided tour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The $10 ticket, which includes a map and pond descriptions, can be purchased at Johnson’s Garden Centers, 2707 W. 13th St. North or 6225 E. Shadybrook; Tails and Scales, 1718 Nelson Dr., Derby; Hong’s Landscape and Nursery, 8904 E. 31st St. South (except Sunday); Scenic Landscape, 5911 W. Maple (except Sunday). On the days of the tour, maps can be also be purchased at 1515 Willow Lane in Wichita. One map admits one car and its passengers to 12 ponds and water gardens.
The North Riverside Garden Stroll highlights five gardens plus the neighborhood Triangle Garden and community vegetable garden from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance at Johnson’s Garden Center and Seasonal Decorating, 2828 W. 13th St N., in Wichita. Proceeds go to neighborhood improvement projects.
