The Greater Wichita YMCA has closed all branch gyms over growing concerns about coronavirus and COVID-19, but spring break camp and early learning services will remain open to help working parents.

The YMCA made the announcement in a statement posted to its website Sunday evening. All branch location and YMCA Farha Sports Centers are temporarily closed, effective Monday.

“At this unprecedented time, we know COVID-19 will impact everyone in our community in some way,” YMCA officials said, adding that the “difficult decision” was made with input from local, state and national public health experts.

“We will, as a resource for working parents, still offer our SPRING BREAK CAMP programs and in-branch EARLY LEARNING CENTER services. Our staff will be available, by phone, Monday - Friday from 8AM-5PM if you have any questions or concerns.”
