The Hurts Donut store in west Wichita is back in business after being closed for the last three weeks.

But today, the east-side store is closed, though the reason is not clear.

The west-side Hurts store, which first opened in July 2015 selling colorful doughnuts with crazy toppings, has been closed for the last three weeks so owners could repair damage from a water-main break that happened at the end of September. The damage was extensive, said owner Trista Patterson, and the kitchen and bathrooms had to be restored.

The store reopened at 5 a.m. today.

Meanwhile, people who live near the east-side Hurts at 3750 N. Woodlawn are reporting that it is closed today. No one is answering the phone at the shop, which is usually open 24 hours. An employee at the west-side shop said to watch Facebook for news about the east store. I’ve left messages with the owners but have not heard back yet about the east-side store.

In June, local Hurts franchise owners including Patterson, her husband, her parents, her sister and her brother-in-law, announced that they had put the two stores up for sale but that they planned to keep them open until there was a new buyer.

I’ll let you know what I find out.
