One of Wichita’s most luxurious restaurants is getting a luxurious addition
Chester’s Chophouse & Wine Bar owner George Youssef is about to launch a project that will add another touch of luxury to the restaurant.
Youssef, who owns both Chester’s at 1550 N. Webb Road and Georges French Bistro at 4618 E. Central, will soon start construction on a Chester’s addition. He’s calling it a “glass room,” and it will feature retractable glass doors on three sides that can be open in warmer weather and closed during the winter, allowing him to use the space all year.
The addition will be on the northwest side of the building, just north of the current patio. It will face The Waterfront development’s lake and will allow Youssef to add indoor/outdoor seating for about 60 people, he said.
“It’s going to be a beautiful project,” he said. “It’s going to be exciting for our restaurant, and it’s going to be exciting for the diners.”
Youssef, who bought Chester’s in 2019 from founder Wink Hartman Sr. and his partners, says his diners like patio seating. Four years ago, he completed a $1 million expansion of the restaurant’s patio that included the addition of more outdoor seats and a fire pit.
He said this addition — which he anticipates will be finished in October or November – will make Chester’s complete. It will have many uses, he said, and will not only accommodate everyday diners who want to enjoy indoor/outdoor seating but also will be available for private events.
“I just like to do projects, and I feel like the place needs it,” he said. “. . . It’s going to be a very interesting project, honestly.”
Chester’s Chophouse originally opened in 2004. It’s a high-end steakhouse whose wine lists consistently earns it Wine Spectator awards.
