This coffee chain just opened in Derby. What happened to its plans for Wichita?
Rose Hill got the Wichita area’s first Ziggi’s Coffee, which opened on New Year’s Eve 2024.
Now, another Wichita suburb has added a location of the drive-through-only coffee chain, which will also make its debut inside the Wichita city limits in a few months.
On Tuesday, Derby resident Kassie Collins opened a Ziggi’s at 1728 N. Nelson Drive in Derby. It’s in a free-standing building off of K-15, just south of the Derby Atwoods. To celebrate the opening, the new shop is offering deals all this week: Today, customers will get half-off drinks, and on Tuesday, the shop will donate a portion of the day’s proceeds to the Career Technical Education Endowment Fund at the Derby Community Foundation.
On Wednesday, customers can get free kids drinks with the purchase of a full-sized drink. On Thursday, the shop will offer buy-one, get-one-free drinks. On Friday, it will give away Ziggi’s swag, and one customer will win free Ziggi’s for a year. To enter, customers must sign up for the Ziggi’s rewards program in advance and use the program on Friday.

On Saturday, the shop will offer half-off dirty soda drinks, and on Sunday, customers will be able to get half-off food items with the purchase of a drink.
The Derby Ziggi’s is open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It has outdoor but no indoor seating.
What about the Wichita Ziggi’s?
In July, Ziggi’s franchisee Adam Frey shared that he was planning to open Wichita’s first Ziggi’s. It will be at 8669 W. 29th St. North, which is near 29th and Tyler. (Frey, the owner of Wichita Lawn Care, also opened the Rose Hill Ziggi’s.)
At the time, he said that he thought construction would get started quickly and that the shop would be open by the end of 2025.
But he ran into some issues with permits, he said, so construction didn’t start until November. He’s now predicting that he’ll have Wichita’s first Ziggi’s open in early March.
Frey said he hopes to open other Ziggi’s shops in the Wichita area but has no firm plans yet.
Ziggi’s Coffee is a Colorado-based chain that was founded in 2004 and now has more than 100 locations across the country. It’s known for its iced coffee drinks, energy drinks and dirty sodas and offers a food menu that features breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos and baked goods.
