New-to-Wichita chain shares opening date, details on how to win free food
Opening day for Wichita’s first Chicken Salad Chick restaurant is less than two weeks away, and the Atlanta-based chain is sharing its plans for opening-week giveaways — the biggest of which will be free chicken salad for a year.
The restaurant, which is at 10240 W. 29th St., will open on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in a strip center that sits across 29th Street from Hobby Lobby. It will specialize in Southern-style chicken salad that comes in more than a dozen flavors.
On opening day, the very first person in line will win a voucher good for one free large chicken salad a week for a year. The next 99 people in line will get a free large chicken salad each month for a year.
The chain will continue with giveaways throughout the first week. On Wednesday, Dec. 17, the first 50 customers who purchase an entree with two sides will receive a free Chicken Salad Chick tumbler. On Thursday, Dec. 18, the first 50 who make the same purchase will get a free tote bag.
The Friday, Dec. 19, giveaway is a free cooler for the first 50 people to purchase two large Quick Chicks, which are grab-and-go containers of chicken salad. And on Saturday, Dec. 20, the first 50 who purchase an entree with one side will get a voucher good for a free meal on a future visit.
Chicken Salad Chick is a fast-casual restaurant where people order at the counter then take a seat and wait for their food.
Customers will be able to get chicken salad in flavors like traditional, savory, fruity and nutty, and spicy. The chicken salad is served by the scoop or in a sandwich, and the menu (posted below) also offers sides like soup, broccoli salad, grape salad and mac and cheese. Desserts include white chocolate cake, red velvet cake, chocolate marshmallow crispy bars and buttercream frosted cookies.
The chain, which was founded in Auburn, Alabama, in 2008, now has more than 320 restaurants in 22 states. Wichita’s franchisee, Troy Morrison of Meauxmentum Strategies and Investments is the brand’s largest franchisee and owns 25 Chicken Salad Chick restaurants across Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas. His restaurant collection also includes more than 100 Taco Bell and Wingstop restaurants nationwide.
The company has already shared that it also is planning a Chicken Salad Chick restaurant for 2600 N. Rock Road in Derby — where an AT&T store previously operated. It should be open by late February.
Wichita’s Chicken Salad Chick will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. The restaurant will be closed on Sundays. For more information, visit www.chickensaladchick.com
