A new all-you-can-eat restaurant is coming to Wichita in early 2026
The busy Greenwich Place shopping center, at K-96 and Greenwich in Wichita, is full of restaurants, including locally owned Albero Bistro plus chains like Blaze Pizza, Saltgrass Steak House, Panera, Panda Express, Chipotle and more.
But one formerly occupied restaurant building in the center that’s been sitting vacant for two years will soon have a tenant offering something Wichita loves: an all-you-can-eat option.
Izumi Sushi & Hibachi, which is part of a North Dakota-based chain, is about to take over the spot at 2636 Greenwich Court that Buffalo Wings and Rings vacated when it closed in August 2023.
I spoke with one of the owners, and he said that the restaurant will most likely open sometime in January or February. It won’t have a buffet line, though. Rather, customers will get a sheet of paper and will indicate which items they want. Choices will include fresh sushi, hibachi items, teriyaki chicken and steak, and several appetizers.
Customers will pay $20.95 at lunch and $30.95 at dinner and then will be able to order all the items they want. The price is actually reasonable, the manager said, if people consider what they spend for a typical sushi meal: two rolls and an appetizer can easily total $40 or $50. (Customers also will be able to order items a la carte at Izumi.)
The restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and will stay open until 10 p.m. on the weekends. A remodel of the space is now underway, and the owner said he thought people would be impressed with the new look of the dining room.
The owners of Izumi have been slowly expanding their restaurant concept beyond North Dakota for the past decade. They now have restaurants in Missouri, Iowa and Texas.
Although all-you-can-eat sushi is available at some local super buffets, the last time Wichita had a restaurant designed like Izumi was when Mizu Sushi operated at 2140 W. 21st St. from 2016 until 2020.
Stay tuned for more information as opening day gets closer.
