We now know where the third location of this growing cafe chain will open in Wichita
Over the past three years, Wichita has added two Mokas cafes: One opened in February 2022 at 143 N. McLean in Delano, and the other opened in September at 1344 E. Veranda Drive, near 13th and Webb.
The concept’s owner, Salina-based JRI Hospitality, has for months been promising that west Wichita will get a Mokas, too. And now, we know where it will be and when-ish it will open.
Jason Ingermanson, JRI Hospitality’s owner, just confirmed that the city’s third Mokas will open near 37th and Ridge — north of the new strip center on the northwest corner. He says it should be open sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, which runs October through December.
It will be a free-standing cafe with a drive-through, just like Wichita’s other two Mokas. Construction should start in late spring, he said.
“Wichita continues to support and love the brand, evident of our continued success in Delano as well as our tremendous early turnouts at our Waterfront location,” he said.
Mokas, a small but growing chain, serves coffee, breakfast and lunch. Mokas also has restaurants in Colby and Salina as well as two in Arizona.
Scott Redler, one of the founders of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, serves as president for the Mokas chain. JRI Hospitality also owns 10 Freddy’s restaurants across the country, six Chompi’s New York-style deli restaurants in Arizona, and two The Original Grande taco restaurants — in Scott City and in Abilene.
