Sparky’s Christmas bar will return this year despite a new concept taking over its space

Larcher’s Market has been open six months at 3555 E. Douglas, and now its owners and chef say they’ve finally implemented some of the plans they had for the unique business from the start — take-and-bake meals and wine dinners among them.

And they have news about their holiday plans.

The owners of the market — a coffee shop, bar, restaurant and retail business that is a sister operation to The Belmont restaurant next door — said they wanted their feet under them before they expanded their offerings beyond the basics. Now, the staff is fully trained, the chef is fully comfortable, and they’re ready to go, said managing partner Tory DeMarce.

Among the recent and soon-to-come additions at Larcher’s:

Take-and-bake: Larcher’s serves breakfast items like avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches and crepes in the morning and sandwiches, burgers and salads at lunch and dinner. But it’s also set up with refrigerated cases that the owners always imagined they’d fill with take-and-bake and grab-and-go items that people could pick up in a hurry.

Now, they’ve got that system up and running. In addition to grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, the market is now offering a rotating monthly dinner special, and this month’s is a particularly good deal. In an attempt to encourage people to try out the take-and-bake dinners, Larcher’s is offering a lasagna meal for four that includes salad and bread for $40. And, for a limited time, people can also grab a bottle of wine to go with the lasagna dinner for $1 more.

Wine dinners: Chef Kevin Lebron and his sous chef, Rico Munoz, have also started putting on wine dinners inside Larcher’s. Occasionally, the staff will close the restaurant a little early to set up tables for wine dinner guests, who will be treated to a multi-course meal with wine pairings.

The first wine dinner was on Oct. 23 and included slow-roasted short ribs, cheesy grits and wine by Blue Rock Winery out of California.

The next one, slated for 5:30 to 7:30 tonight, will feature three courses for $85. Then, on Nov. 21, Larcher’s will put on a whiskey dinner for $120. Tickets to both are available at order.toasttab.com or inside Larcher’s.

Happy hour: Larcher’s also has recently changed up its happy hour and has come up with a menu of “bar bites” including a rosemary focaccia flatbread, avocado fries, sliders and tacos. It also traded its two-for-one happy hour special for one that offers $7 cocktails and glasses of wine, $5 mocktails, $3 select beers and $2 Coors Banquet beers.

Happy hour at Larcher’s is from 3 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The business is also offering a limited time happy-hour special that includes the flatbread from the bar bites menu and a bottle of wine for $20.

The return of Sparky’s: For the past several years, The Belmont has set up a special holiday pop-up bar experience in a space that Larcher’s now occupies. But fans of the pop-up — dubbed Sparky’s — don’t have to worry. The owners have decided to use the Larcher’s space for Sparky’s again this year, and in addition to special holiday drinks, this year, Sparky’s will offer a menu of food items as well. The pop-up will open on the day after Thanksgiving: Nov. 29.
