This restaurant has locations on both the east and west side. But one of the two is closing.
Almost exactly two years after opening, Wichita’s original Mochinut restaurant at 343 S. Greenwich is about to close.
But the newer west-side version of the restaurant will remain open.
In November 2022, Matt and Judy Nola opened Mochinut in a strip center near Kellogg and Greenwich. The restaurant, part of a Los Angeles-based chain, serves Korean corn dogs, boba drinks and mochi doughnuts, which are stretchy and chewy because they’re made with rice flour.
This week, Matt Nola said that he and his partners have decided to close the shop. The last day will be Nov. 17.
The Nolas owned the territorial franchising rights for the Wichita area. But last year, they sold the rights to the west side to new owners, who opened a Mochinut shop in August at the Tyler Pointe development at 13th and Tyler.
The west-side Mochinut will stay open. Its owners say they’re not interested in taking over the east-side location and instead will focus on growing their shop and incorporating new menu items.
