Wichita is about to get another Scooter’s coffee drive-through, and it’s set to open this fall in a growing area of Wichita.

The Scooter’s is going into the District 96 development, which is near the Aloft Hotel at K-96 and Oliver and is the same development where Schane Gross’ new restaurant, Rail Hoppers, recently opened. The Scooter’s will sit between the QuikTrip and the hotel.

The franchisees for this spot are Ryan Kromer and his wife, Sarah, who have four other Scooter’s stores in Kansas. Their territory includes small towns around Wichita, and they opened their first in Valley Center in July 2021. They then acquired an already existing Scooter’s in Augusta in April of last year and in October opened one in Winfield. They’re now planning a Scooter’s for Arkansas City as well.

Bel Aire was also part of the Kromers’ territory, and they were able to get it expanded a bit to include the K-96 and Oliver spot. This will be their only Wichita store. (Franchisee Mackenzie Burnett owns the majority of the Wichita-area Scooter’s.)

“I love that area,” said Kromer, who confessed to sitting in his car and counting how many people drove past the development while he was trying to decide whether to commit. “It’s got a lot of potential.”

District 96 is also getting a new strip center, and it already has one tenant signed: a liquor store. Construction started in March, and the strip center should be ready by late July.

District 96 is owned by Great Plains Ventures and sits near Koch Industries.
