Larry Bud’s at 2120 N. Woodlawn in Brittany Center, which has been a popular east-side spot for watching Wichita State University games, has closed.

The business’s Facebook page was updated Wednesday morning to say it was closed, and a post from Tuesday night announced that the bar was closing “forever.” A video shows the doors being locked.

“Wanted to thank all of our loyal customers for supporting us over the last seven years. Tonight will be our last night we will be open, forever,” it read.

I guess it's fitting that my phone died. Thank you everybody.

Larry Harmon opened the east-side Larry Bud’s in 2008. The building was home to Tanner’s before that. He opened a west-side location in 6200 W. 21st St. in 2012 but turned it over earlier this year to real estate broker Tom Lassley, who reopened it as Calleigh’s 88. It closed after just a few months, leaving Larry Bud’s to cover the lease, said co-owner Will Harmon. They quickly ran out of money to keep Larry Bud’s east afloat. “We just couldn’t afford to keep it open anymore,” he said. On Tuesday night, several former employees and longtime regulars gathered to say goodbye, Will Harmon said. The business is listed for sale online. Someone could still buy it, Will Harmon said, but “it would have to be fast.”
