Calleigh’s 88 has proven to be a short-lived replacement for the west-side Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill at 6200 W. 21st St.
Real estate broker Tom Lassley opened the combination sports bar and dueling piano bar earlier this year, but it’s now closed.
“An investor pulled out on me that was critical to my cash flow,” he says. “I owe people money, and I expect to pay them. It just isn’t going to be right away.”
Lassley says there were problems from the start of the business.
“There’s been a lot of issues,” he says. “Just all sorts of stuff happened to me. It’s been a disaster.”
Some of that relates to employees, Lassley says.
Also, business on the weekdays was slow.
Friday and Saturday nights, though, have been “great crowds and good nights.”
Lassley says he’s working on a loan to reopen, but he says it likely wouldn’t be in the same space.
“I doubt the landlord would let me.”
Chances of reopening anywhere are slim.
“It’s hard to find a place on the west side to do this,” Lassley says.
He says he does have a new business idea to raise money, though. Lassley says to look for details in the next week or two.
