A west Wichita ice cream shop has just closed, but its east-side counterpart remains open
Summer is over, so maybe that will help cushion the news that west Wichita has just lost one of its ice cream businesses.
The west-side location of Freezing Moo, which opened in May 2018 in front of the Target at NewMarket Square, closed last week, confirmed Tymber Lee, one of the partners who brought the ice cream concept to Wichita.
“The location wasn’t profitable,” he said.
But the owners of Crumbl Cookies hope it will be profitable for them: The local franchisee is taking over the spot for his west-side location.
Wichita’s other Freezing Moo, which opened in February 2018 at Greenwich Place, K-96 and Greenwich, will remain open, Lee said, adding that it’s doing well.
Freezing Moo is a Kansas City-based chain that specializes in rolled ice cream prepared on freezer plates kept at -18 degrees. The west-side store also featured a game area for younger children.
