Wichita bar owner decides location works better as restaurant, cuts alcohol and adds food
The intersection of 21st and Woodlawn isn’t really a bar area after all, says Adam Alkasasy, who earlier this year opened a daiquiri and hookah lounge in the old Bionic Burger space at 6121 E. 21st St. North.
But “It’s definitely a high traffic restaurant area,” he said.
So Alkasasy has decided to make a big change to his Clouds Daiquiri Lounge: He’s converted the business into a restaurant called Clouds Mediterranean Grill. He started a soft-opening for the restaurant on Sunday and plans a grand-opening celebration on Friday.
Alkasasy said he eliminated alcohol from the menu and now is serving a menu that includes things like a chicken shawarma wrap, a beef pie, a falafel wrap, grape leaves and “the best chicken kabsa in town,” he said. (Chicken kabsa is a Middle Eastern rice dish similar to biryani.)
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily and will offer hookah after 7 p.m. It has both indoor and outdoor seating.
