Barbecue restaurant ditches its home of less than a year with plans to move to Rock Road
After less than a year in the former Jezebel’s space at 4520 E. 47th. St. South, Green Olive owner Maisam Sakhi has closed his Green Olive Family BBQ restaurant there.
But the restaurant isn’t gone for good, he said. He’s planning to relocate it to Rock Road within the next three months, though he’s still trying to decide between two spaces.
Sakhi closed the restaurant on Wednesday. He’d moved Green Olive, which he originally opened in 2016 at 6600 W. Central, to the bigger south-side spot last summer, reopening at the end of July serving not only the Mediterranean specialties he’d become known for but also barbecue items.
But it just wasn’t busy enough, he said.
The 6,250 square-foot-space had previously been home to a restaurant called The Barbe-Q-Pit, which opened in June 2019 but closed a month later. The building also held the adult entertainment club Jezebel’s until 2015.
Sakhi said that he’s also planning to open a Green Olive in Oklahoma within the next six months or so.
Stay tuned to learn where Green Olive will end up next.
