Meddys owner Alex Harb is known for putting on fundraisers at his Wichita restaurants designed to aid those affected by tragedies.

Now, he’s doing it again.

Harb says he’s planning to donate 20% of the Saturday and Sunday revenue from his five local restaurants to families affected by this week’s school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which killed 19 children and two adults. He said he plans to send the money to the school district so that it can be distributed to families.

“That could have been my kids in that school,” Harb said. “Those children were my kids’ age, and it’s just extremely sad. If we can help, why not?”

Harb said he will also put out donation boxes in case people feel compelled to donate more.

In the past, Harb has donated percentages of his restaurant revenue to the people of Ukraine and to families affected by local tragedies.

Wichita Meddys restaurants are at 120 S. Washington, 2300 N. Greenwich, 7906 E. Harry, 560 S. Ridge Road and 2441 N. Maize Road.
