Wichita’s newest barbecue restaurant is open: Here’s the menu
A new barbecue restaurant opened in Wichita on Wednesday..
SmokeHouse ICT, a brick-and-mortar restaurant by food truck owner Chris Morgan, has taken over the space at 2800 E. Central that Kiko’s vacated last month.
Morgan is starting with a limited menu that includes brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, smoked chicken, spareribs, baked mac and cheese, smoked beans, potato salad and coleslaw.
During the month of May, Morgan will open the restaurant from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sundays. Starting in June, he’ll add dinner hours and open 4 to 8 p.m. as well.
When he expands the hours, he’ll also expand the menu to include items like smoked turkey, smoked salmon and even a smoked banana bread drizzled with smoked caramel sauce. He hopes to have his liquor license by then and will serve bottled beer and wine. He’ll offer a 10% discount to members of the military and their dependents, members of law enforcement, doctors, nurses and teachers.
Morgan, a former insurance agent who opened his food trailer in April of last year, sold it once he committed to opening his restaurant, but he plans to eventually buy a full food truck that he can send out for catering jobs and to food truck rallies.
