It’s hard to believe that once, not that long ago, it wasn’t all that easy to find seafood in land-locked Wichita.

Now, it’s everywhere, and the latest installment of the Cajun seafood trend that’s taken hold here opened Monday.

Hook & Reel, a Maryland-based chain with 60 restaurants across the country, has taken over the former Logan’s Roadhouse building at the perimeter of Towne East Square. Its address is 353 S. Rock Road, where construction has been ongoing since September.

The restaurant’s specialty is its shareable seafood “boils,” which are filled with things like snow crab legs, mussels, shrimp and crawfish. Diners can customize their boils, choosing which seafood items are included, which spice is added, how spicy it will be and what veggies and starches to throw in the pot along with the seafood.

The menu also includes raw oysters, appetizers like hush puppies and mozzarella sticks, Po’ Boy sandwiches, shrimp baskets, soups and salads. Customers also will find a full bar with signature cocktails, draft beers and more.

Hook & Reel’s hours are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
