A new restaurant focused on burgers has just opened in west Wichita
A new restaurant has just opened on West Central, and it specializes in burgers.
Its owners, though, plan to also use the space as an entertainment venue that will feature live music, comedians and more.
Big Arbor has just taken over the space at 4311 W. Central that most recently was occupied by a nightclub called Tarragon’s. The restaurant opened for carryout and delivery a few weeks ago, but this week, it added dine-in service.
It’s owned by Ty and Aurora McNeil and some investors, and at the moment, it’s serving just burgers, pickles and chips. Next week, though, said manager Angela Ohl, cook Mickey McGuire plans to expand the menu and add sandwiches, subs, upscale grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese and more.
Though Big Arbor is now open for dine-in and is furnished with several booths and high-top tables, owners are still putting the finishing touches on the restaurant. They’re not quite done with the east side of the large space, where they plan to put on the concerts and shows. The owner is going for a “mini Cotillion” feel, Ohl said.
The burgers are made with chuck roast meat ground in house, McGuire said. The menu features a build-your-own burger, one topped with onion bacon jam, and one topped with french-fried onions, cheddar cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce. Sliders are also an option.
Eventually, the owners will add alcohol to the menu but they’re still waiting on getting their liquor license.
Big Arbor’s hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
To order carryout, people can call 316-239-6295 or visit toastab.com. Delivery is also available through DoorDash and UberEats.
Ohl said that so far, the restaurant has been popular with people who live in the area, which is near Central and West.
“The people in the neighborhood are loving it,” she said. “They love the burgers.”
