Another Freddy’s restaurant is under construction in Wichita, the first since 2018
Wichita is about to get another Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, this one near 21st and Amidon.
Construction is underway at 2021 N. Amidon, suite 100, the street-facing south end cap of the New Leaf Plaza shopping center that also has A-OK Supercenter, Hardee’s, Paleterias Tropicana, Planet Fitness, Chipotle and more.
Kim Huynh, who does public relations for Freddy’s, said the restaurant should be ready by the end of March. Though it won’t have a drive-through, the new restaurant will have 2,702 square feet and seating for 68.
The store will mark the first new Freddy’s in Wichita since the restaurant at 3450 S. Meridian, across from the South Branch YMCA, opened in September 2018. It will be Wichita’s sixth full-sized Freddy’s, though there are also Freddy’s kiosks inside Wichita State University’s Rhatigan Student Center and at the Riverfront Stadium concession area where the Wichita Wind Surge play.
Freddy’s, whose home offices are in Wichita, has nearly 450 restaurants nationwide. A year ago, it was purchased from founders Randy Simon and Scott Redler by Thompson Street Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in St. Louis. Redler still works for the company as its Chief Experience Officer.
