Wichita will be getting two new Dunkin’ restaurants in 2022.

The Wichita area is full of Dunkin’ stores, and by the end of this year, it’ll have two more — including one that utilizes the chain’s new drive-through-only model.

Dunkin’ franchisee Dan Day, who announced last fall plans to build his seventh area store in front of the Sam’s Club at 29th and Maize Road, now says he’ll open his eighth store this year, too.

It’s going on a piece of vacant property just to the west of the Chipotle at Central and Hillside. Previously, the site held a credit union building, but it was torn down last year. The address is 3100 E. Central.

That Dunkin’ will offer drive-through only service, Day said. The chain first started rolling out the drive-through models last year, and they offer dual drive-through lanes but no dining room service. Customers can still get the full Dunkin’ menu at the drive-through stores.

It’ll be Day’s first drive-through-only store, he said.

“This was just a good fit for that area,” he said. “It’s a really small piece of ground.”

Day said he expects the Central and Hillside Dunkin’ to open during the first half of the year. Meanwhile, he’s making progress on the 29th and Maize store and said it should be ready by late February.

Once those two Dunkin’ stores are open, Day said, he’ll likely be finished in the Wichita area. His franchise territory stretches to the Colorado state line, he said, and his next focus will likely be on western Kansas.

Day also has Dunkin’ stores in Derby and in Andover as well as four in Wichita: at 47th and Broadway, Central and Rock Road, Maple and West Street, and 21st and Greenwich.
