A new coffee chain is coming to Wichita — but it’ll be the middle of next year at the earliest before it arrives.

Dutch Bros., a drive-through coffee chain whose headquarters is in Grants Pass, Oregon, is planning to bring three stores to the Wichita area, said Rilynn Davis, a spokesperson for the chain.

The first one will open just south of the QuikTrip at 29th North and Maize Road and will sit in front of the Hobby Lobby at the intersection and across the street from the new Torchy’s Tacos. It likely won’t be open until mid-2022, Davis said. Dutch Bros. hopes to have three shops in Wichita by the end of 2023.

Mark Knowles of CBRE in Wichita, who helped put the deal together, said the company has been eyeing Wichita for some time.

“They’ve looked at Wichita a couple of times and they just kind of pulled the trigger and wanted to jump into it,” he said.

The first shop will be about 950 square feet and have a double drive-through, Knowles said. Dutch Bros. serves coffee drinks, smoothies, tea, lemonade and sweets like muffin tops and granola bars. You can see the the menu at www.dutchbros.com/menu

Dutch Bros. has about 500 stores in 12 states. The closest to Wichita is in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The chain is known for hiring staff members who are extra friendly and positive.
