A new wing and burger restaurant concept will open in Wichita early next year
A new restaurant is opening in the former Church’s Chicken space at 1302 N. Broadway that was recently vacated by Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken.
Wing Boss & Burgers — a wings concept by Dickey’s Restaurant Brands that started in March as a delivery-only “ghost kitchen” concept — earlier in the fall started adding brick-and-mortar locations, and Wichita is getting one.
Eric Vu, who works for Anchor Point Capital in Newport Beach, California, said that Wichita’s restaurant will open sometime after the first of the year. Vu’s job includes scouting out properties across the country that could work for restaurant clients.
Wing Boss sells the pit-smoked wings made popular at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which once had two locations in Wichita: one at 2244 N. Greenwich and one at 2768 N. Maize Road. (Both closed in 2019.)
In Wichita, the Wing Boss will also serve burgers, Vu said. He said he’s hoping to bring other restaurant concepts to the area but that this is the only Wing Boss restaurant that’s planned for Wichita.
The new restaurant will have limited seating inside and also will cater to to-go customers.
“It’s something exciting for the area, something new,” he said. “I think it should pair very well in that community. It’s quick, easy and the prices are phenomenal based on what you’re getting in value.”
