Owners of about-to-open Bradley Fair restaurant are planning a second eatery downtown
They’re almost ready to open their first Wichita restaurant — the much-anticipated First Mile Kitchen in the former Good Egg space at Bradley Fair.
But before they do, owners Nick Korbee and Amanda Luginbill have some news to share: They’re also planning a second restaurant.
Married couple Korbee and Luginbill say they are also planning a restaurant for the ground floor of Fidelity Bank’s new RISE Car Park at 320 N. Market. They’ll call it First Mile Cantine.
The restaurant, which the owners hope to open this spring, will serve breakfast and lunch and also will offer a mini-market stocked with fresh produce grown at RISE Farms, the rooftop garden Fidelity recently launched on the top floor of the new parking garage.
First Mile Cantine also will serve coffee and have a full bar. Eventually, Korbee said, it will add family-style dinner service and a “chef’s table” experience.
Korbee and Luginbill will focus on the use of locally grown produce at both of their First Mile restaurants. Their executive chef is James McBride, who previously worked at restaurants like Newport Grill, where he was chef de cuisine.
Korbee is an Ohio native who moved to Wichita in early 2020 with Luginbill, who grew up in Newton. He and a couple of partners opened a restaurant called Egg Shop in New York City’s Soho neighborhood in 2014. It has an egg-centric menu created with locally sourced ingredients and was popular enough that the partners added a second location in Brooklyn in 2017.
Korbee went on to write “Egg Shop: The Cookbook,” a book full of egg recipes and cooking techniques that has a comic flair.
Stay tuned for more details and for an opening date for the Bradley Fair restaurant.
