Three Wichita restaurants you didn’t know added brunch, including one in College Hill

Wichita loves brunch, and it’s not hard to find a restaurant serving a special breakfast-y menu on Saturdays and Sundays.

Over the past month, three Wichita restaurants have added brunch service — and one of them is a popular College Hill restaurant that just started its brunch a week ago.

Here’s where you can try three of Wichita’s newest brunches this weekend:

The Belmont

This new restaurant at 3555 E. Douglas in College Hill opened in early June and has quickly become one of Wichita’s most popular dining destinations. Until now, it’s been open for dinner only, but last weekend, it quietly launched a new brunch menu, which is served starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant offers its last brunch seating at 1:30 p.m.

Co-owner Tory DeMarce said The Belmont had always planned to add brunch but wanted to get its dinner service perfected first. It’s finally ready, DeMarce said, and chef Jacob Cook has created a menu filled with his own takes on things like biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict, and avocado toast. You can see the menu below.

So far, Cook said, one of the most popular items is his Norteno Benny, which features an English muffin topped with chorizo, sauteed spinach, poached eggs and sun dried tomatoes.

He didn’t want his biscuits and gravy to be like all the others, so his gravy is spiked with fire-roasted poblano peppers.

“We wanted to get away from just your average gravy, which is tasty, but we wanted to make sure it’s unique to us and has a little more diverse flavor,” Cook said.

And DeMarce said he’s already addicted to the restaurant’s cinnamon rolls, which are dripping with cream cheese frosting.

A full menu of morning cocktails is also available, including mimosas and a unique Irish coffee.

Brunch is served a la carte, and dishes range from $6.50 to $11.

River City Brewing Company

This longtime brewery at 150 N. Mosley in Old Town just added brunch in mid-August and has affectionately titled it “Brunch @ The Brew.” It’s served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday.

It offers a set menu with items like breakfast burritos, chorizo hash, and chicken and waffles. The kitchen also comes up with a special each week and has so far offered things like S’mores pancakes and a bacon-and-egg-topped “hangover mac.”

The brunch has been popular with customers, said owner Chris Arnold.

“And the weather’s been great for sitting outside,” he said.

Tight Ends Sports Bar & Grill

This bar at 524 S. Seneca, which features scantily clad waitresses and caters to sports fans, has been open for a year but just added its breakfast/brunch service a few weeks ago.

It’s serving brunch from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays, and the menu features things like chicken and waffles, skillets, breakfast burritos, chicken fried steaks and a hangover burger.
