Fifth Wichita restaurant, this one in Old Town, closing after possible COVID-19 exposure
A fifth Wichita restaurant has announced that it is closing because of a possible COVID-19 exposure.
Lotus Leaf Cafe, the healthy-eating restaurant at 251 N. Washington in Old Town, announced via social media late on Thursday morning that it was closing for 14 days after an employee’s house guest tested positive for COVID-19.
“Even though currently none of my employees have tested positive, we will all be tested before re-opening,” the post read.
Lotus Leaf is the fifth Wichita restaurant to announce a voluntarily closure during the last two weeks.
Jose Pepper’s west location at 2243 N. Tyler Road closed on Thursday, June 11, after a back-of-the-house employee tested positive for the virus. Paleterias Tropicana at 21st and Amidon followed on Monday, June 15. Both of those restaurants have since reopened.
A week ago, managers at Stroud’s, a popular fried chicken restaurant at 3661 N. Hillside, announced that it was temporarily closing for the same reason. And Connie’s Mexico Cafe at 2227 N. Broadway, whose owner and her daughter both tested positive, made their closure announcement on Monday.
Lotus Leaf, which has operated in Old Town since 2014, reopened for dine-in on May 8.
