Three weeks after restaurants allowed to resume dine-in, these Wichita holdouts are back

It’s been three full weeks since Wichita restaurants were allowed to reopen their dining rooms, and this week, several of the holdouts have decided to reopen.

Among the Wichita restaurants that are accepting diners again as of this week:

The Kitchen, 725 E. Douglas: Natasha Gandhi-Rue stayed busy during coronavirus closures selling family meals to-go (and winning a nationally televised cooking show.) But she kept her dining room closed throughout. As of Tuesday, May 26, though, she’s ready to reopen the dining room and will be offering weekly food and cocktail specials. She said she’s eager for customers to see some of the “sprucing up” she’s done inside since the restaurant closed.

River City Brewing Company, 150 N. Mosley: This flagship Old Town restaurant has been closed for weeks, though it continued serving its craft beer to-go. But as of Tuesday, May 26, it has reopened for dine-in and carryout with “16 taps flowing and a full menu available.” Online ordering and delivery is still available.

Barn’rds, 2037 N. Woodlawn: This restaurant reopened for dine-in on Tuesday, May 26, as well, and customers who feel an attachment to the east-side space will want to visit over the next few weeks. The owners plan to close it for good a little more than a week before they open their new restaurant at 37th and Maize, and they’re aiming for early July on that project.

Avivo Brick Oven Pizzeria, 2441 N. Maize Road: This west-side pizza place has been open for carryout but is reopening its dining room as of Tuesday, May 26. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

B&C Barbeque, 355 N. Washington: This restaurant reopened for to-go a few weeks ago. But it’s known for its big barbecue buffet, and that didn’t return until today: Tuesday, May 26. The buffet is now up and running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
