Classy, cozy cocktail bar in downtown Wichita is adding food and hours
Fans of Cana Wine & Cocktails, the classy and cozy cocktail bar that opened in September 2018 at 221 S. Broadway, will start noticing some changes when they visit.
The most exciting development: The bar — known for its creative and potent cocktails — is adding some food to its list of offerings. Starting on Feb. 1, customers will be able to order quick snacks like nuts, and trail mix plus pickle plates, dips and charcuterie boards. Previously, Cana didn’t have food, and sometimes with those strong cocktails, a bite or two would be welcome.
Cana also will be launching a new cocktail menu to go with the food offerings on Feb. 1 — but they won’t be mixed by Becky Reynolds, the bartender who’s been coming up with the drink menu and managing the bar since it opened.
She just left Cana but has been replaced by another recognizable face on the Wichita bar scene. Jared Browning, who has helped launch several local businesses and has worked at places like The Ambassador’s Dockum Apothecary, Meddys and The Anchor, became Cana’s general manager on Jan. 1. Browning has worked in food and beverage for 21 years and is the founder of the Bartenders of Wichita Facebook page.
One last change: Starting next week the bar will add one day a week to its schedule. It had previously been closed both Sundays and Mondays, Browning said, but guests have been asking for Monday hours. Cana’s new hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Mondays through Thursdays and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Cana, which is owned by local businessman Rodney Horton, is on the ground floor of the Art-Deco Petroleum Building at 221 S. Broadway.
