That announcement, he said, helped bring in business for a while, so he and his wife, Thao Luu, decided to keep the restaurant at 550 N. Rock Road open – but only for breakfast and lunch.
Birds on the Roof is now open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 8 to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
The couple, though, is worried that people think they decided to close, Nguyen said. They have applied for a liquor license for the restaurant, and when they get it, they plan to add dinner service back – possibly in a month or two. When they do, the dinner menu will be filled with Eastern Asian/ Indo Chinese dishes, Nguyen said, and his wife will be the cook.
