The only Kansas restaurant getting this sandwich was chosen for proximity to duck hunting

Last year, Arby’s — the fast-food restaurant chain that “has the meats” — grabbed attention by selling limited-time venison sandwiches in select markets, including Wichita.

Arby’s restaurants in other parts of the country sold sandwiches stuffed with elk.

Starting on Saturday, Arby’s is making another foray into game-meat sandwiches, but this time, it let the game determine which restaurants it would be eaten in.

Arby’s is selling its limited-time duck breast sandwich in only 16 restaurants across the country. One of them is the Arby’s at 3413 10th Street in Great Bend.

According to a news release, the restaurants selling the sandwich fell within the four “waterfowl migration flyways” across the country. Great Bend, along with Pearland, Texas; Kalispell, Montana; and Lincoln, Nebraska; falls in the Central Flyway. (Four restaurants each were also chosen in the Atlanta, Mississippi and Pacific flyways.)

The duck breasts were sourced from Indiana-based Maple Leaf Farms. They’ll be cooked sous vide and topped with crispy onions and a smoked cherry sauce on a toasted bun.

Great Bend is about 115 miles northwest of Wichita.
