If you like Lalo's Express, the fast-service Mexican restaurant at 2051 S. Seneca, you'll probably like Pedro's Express, too.

The restaurant is the new tenant in the spot at 602 N. Tyler Road that Charlie's Pizza Taco vacated in November. Pedro's Express opened late last week, featuring a pared-down version of the Lalo's Express menu.

Owner Pedro Limon said he is a friend of the Lalo's Express owner, who agreed to let him open his own version of the restaurant.

It has a drive-through that goes right over the old Charlie's Pizza Taco patio, and the menu features breakfast burritos, flautas, tacos, tortas and burritos full of meats like ground beef, steak, al pastor, shrimp and more. It also has horchata. There's also lots of seating inside.

There's no sign yet, but the building is decorated with a colorful string of flags and has a big "now open" sign posted out front.

It's open from 7 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays and from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays

Lalo's Express originally opened in a 15-seat restaurant at Harry and Seneca almost 15 years ago. In 2004, it moved to a bigger space with more seating at 2051 S. Seneca.

Pedro's Express had opened right around the corner from Rene's Restaurant, another fast Mexican place, which opened at 9310 W. Central in late 2016. That corner also has long-operating Cholita's, a sit-down Mexican restaurant that's operated in Westlink Shopping Center for 32 years.
