The Stadium Bar is back in Delano.

Sort of.

The bar at 620 W. Maple that operated as The Stadium for nine years until it closed in November 2015, reopened late last week and now is called The New Stadium. Its owner is Jeannie Ahrens, a longtime bartender who is not associated with former owner Lori Fry. Ahrens’ partner in the business is Jason Brock.

But she decided she may as well give the bar a name that was familiar.

“It was known for years as The Stadium,” she said.

Ahrens said she completely remodeled the interior, giving the bar a new dance floor and a new look, she said. She also remodeled the patio. Former patrons won’t believe how good it looks, she said.

She also painted the exterior of the bar, which sits in the shadow of Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

After closing in 2015, the bar reopened as Tina’s Tavern in January 2016, but that business was short-lived.

Earlier this week, the parking lot was packed, and Ahrens said all the old regulars are back along with new clientele. People have been quite appreciative that she reopened the bar, she said.

She plans to have live music every Saturday night. There’s no food, but she offers frequent drink specials.

Hours are noon to 2 a.m. daily.
