Food and drink at Old Town's party
Old Town is turning 20 this year and celebrating this weekend with bands, food and drink at Old Town Square at Second and Mosley. (Find full details about the party on Page 2 ). Following is a look at what food and drink will be available when.
1. Sabor: The Latin restaurant at 309 N. Mead will serve a fish taco-to-go featuring breaded grouper, Cuban slaw, avocado crema and tropical pico and a rice-and-beans side dish called gallo pinto. It's $8, and customers should ask for the "Birthday Bash Box Special," which will be available on Friday only.
2. Luca Italian Kitchen: The new Italian restaurant next door at 301 N. Mead will offer a to-go boxed meal featuring lasagna bolognese. It'll also be available on Friday only.
3. Warren Old Town Theatre & Grill: The movie theater that anchors the square will sell brats and hot dogs both Friday and Saturday nights from its patio. It'll also give away free popcorn while supplies last, and patrons can go inside the grill and order meals to go.
4. Drinks to go: Most of the Old Town Square bars will be selling adult beverages in to-go cups, which can be enjoyed on the patio during the Friday and Saturday evening festivities.

Bocconcini wine dinner
Bocconcini Italian Eatery, the popular neighborhood restaurant owned by Nathan Toubia, is putting on its first wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. It's $65 a person and will feature a five-course meal, each course paired with a wine. Among the dishes: a cured salmon salad with shaved fennel and orange, and braised short ribs on a bed of fresh spaetzle. Advance credit card payments are required by calling 316-613-2523. Now open: U Grill
U Grill is a new restaurant that opened Wednesday in the former Linkhaus space at 7817 E. 37th St. North. The restaurant will include a Mongolian Grill, where patrons can load up a bowl of meats, veggies and sauces and watch as the concoction is cooked. It'll also serve Philly cheesesteaks, sandwiches, burgers, brats and hot dogs. Patrons who order those will be given a smaller bowl and can fill them up with whatever toppings they'd like for their sandwiches.
The big draw: Everything will be under $7. Dining room hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. A drive-through is open until midnight Sundays through Thursdays and until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, call 316-425-5730.
Carb load for the cure
If you're planning to Race for the Cure on Saturday, you might as well Carb load for the Cure tonight. Pasta for the Cure is a fundraising dinner planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Commons at WaterWalk, which sits on the west side of the building. Ticket holders will be served a dinner prepared by Carrabba's consisting of Caesar salad, grilled chicken Marsala, pasta, Italian bread, chocolate dream dessert, wine, beer or iced tea. Purchase $20 tickets on line at race.komenmidks.org by noon today. Tickets also will be available at the event for $25.
