Give a turkey, get a pizza
Papa John's Pizza is putting on its sixth annual turkey drive, with a goal of collecting 400 frozen turkeys for the Lord's Diner, from 6 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Those who drop off a turkey will receive a coupon for a free Papa John's pizza for each turkey donated. Drop-off points are Genghis Grill at Douglas and Rock Road and the Papa John's at 21st and Tyler.
Cakes for cans
Local IHOP restaurants will put on their "Cakes for Cans" food drive starting Saturday through Dec. 14, during which time IHOP will give customers who bring in nonperishable food items a free short stack of three buttermilk pancakes. The donations will be given to the Kansas Food Bank. There's a limit of one free short stack per party. Wichita's IHOPs are at 515 S. Ridge Circle, 11855 E. Kellogg and 3505 N. Rock Road.
