10 things to do in the Wichita area this weekend (July 11-12)

Summer comes roaring back this weekend. Maybe it’s time to hit the pool or farmers market if you haven’t had a chance, or shop at garden centers for replacements for drowned plants and fresh color. Here are some other things to do this Saturday and Sunday in the Wichita area.

Sedgwick County Fair, 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Cheney Fairgrounds in Cheney; free parking and admission. Events include demolition derby, 7 p.m., $9 and $11; street dance, 9:30 to midnight; www.ourcountyfair.com.

Wichita cactus club show and sale, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Botanica; admission to show and sale free (admission to Botanica will be charged if you want to go into the gardens).

Doll, Bear, Toy and Collectible Show, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Cessna Activity Center, 2744 S. George Washington Blvd.; $3, children 10 and under free.

Anime Festival, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Hyatt Regency, 400 W. Waterman; $12 to $20; afwcon.org.

McPherson Master Gardeners and Friends garden tour, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 800 E. Euclid, 1205 Eastmoor Drive, 1772 Limestone Road, 1416 Homestead Place and the Master Gardeners and Friends demo garden at 600 W. Woodside in McPherson; $5 ticket available at any garden.

Lantern Fest, including performance by country singer Susie Brown, 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, El Dorado State Park in El Dorado; $45; www.thelanternfest.com.
