Car strikes four high school students in Kansas City, Kan.

A car critically injured four high school students when it struck them about 2:35 p.m. Friday near a community center in Kansas City, Kan.

The students were standing on the north side of Troup Avenue when an eastbound Mercedes-Benz sedan crested a hill and hit them before veering into a yard and coming to rest near a fence, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene in the 1300 block of Troup Avenue and was being interviewed by police shortly after the incident.

It was unclear whether the students had been standing on the road or near it.

The incident happened near the Breidenthal Youth and Family Center.
