Miranda Allen to run as independent for seat held by Pompeo
Miranda Allen is running for Congress as an independent.
Allen, a Kiowa businesswoman, is running in Kansas’ 4th District, which includes most of south-central Kansas. The seat is held by Republican Rep. Mike Pompeo, who is seeking re-election to the House after deciding not to challenge Sen. Jerry Moran.
“Our current system is broken. Partisan bickering has replaced hard work and problem-solving. Special interest money has further corrupted our democracy,” Allen said in a statement.
“We need a leader that will be a strong voice for our district, not a rubber stamp for the special interests.”
Allen is the CEO of Radiofrequency Safety International, a Kiowa-based business that provides safety consulting for telecommunications companies. Her family has a ranch and farm in Barber County.
Allen ran for a state Senate seat as a Republican in 2012 and lost to Rep. Steve Abrams, R-Arkansas City, in the primary.
Democrat Dan Giroux, a Wichita attorney, also is running for the House seat.
