Wichita attorney appointed judge in Sedgwick County
Gov. Sam Brownback has appointed a Wichita attorney to the bench in Sedgwick County.
Deborah Hernandez Mitchell will fill a vacancy in the Sedgwick County District Court that was created when Judge Joseph Bribiesca retired earlier this year.
Hernandez Mitchell works for the firm Woodard, Hernandez, Roth & Day and previously worked as a prosecutor in the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
Brownback said Hernandez Mitchell’s “experience both in private practice and as a prosecutor make her well-suited to serve the people of Sedgwick County.”
Hernandez Mitchell obtained her law and undergraduate degrees from the University of Kansas.
