Sedgwick County leaders OK land purchase for ambulance station at 35th North, Webb Road

Sedgwick County commissioners Wednesday unanimously approved buying land for a new ambulance station at 35th Street North and Webb Road.

The $180,000 site will house an Emergency Medical Service post to serve current and future residents and businesses in the rapidly growing northeast region of Wichita and Sedgwick County, said EMS Director Scott Hadley. Hadley called the site “optimal” because of its easy access to the nearby K-96 freeway and several arterial streets.

He also said the county got a bargain on the land, 47,916 square feet at $3.75 a square foot. “A couple blocks south of there, you’re looking at $8 to $10 per square foot,” he said.
