Wichita board sets 2016-17 school calendar
The first day of school for most children in the Wichita district will be Aug. 17, according to a calendar approved by school board members on Monday.
The 2016-17 calendar has the same number of in-service days, nonteaching duty days and conference release days as this year’s calendar.
Most children will start classes on Aug. 17. Sixth- and ninth-graders will attend orientation on Aug. 16.
Winter break for students will be Dec. 21-Jan. 3. Teachers will have a nonteaching duty day Dec. 21 and an in-service day Jan. 3.
Spring break will be March 20-24, 2017, with a workday for teachers the previous Friday, March 17.
The last day of classes will be May 24, 2017.
